If we can do it you can do it!
NUTRITION I TRAINING
If you would’ve told me a year ago that I would run my first half-marathon, complete the 63 mile “Living the Dream Bike Ride”, finish my first sprint triathlon, and conquer the Tough Mudder, I would have laughed in your face!
This month marks a year at Fit Life for me and I have lost 30 pounds and done all of those events within 6 months of each other! The friendships and confidence I have gained this year have changed my life, and now working out is what I choose to do to make me happy and maintain the 30 pounds I have lost since January of this year.
Thank you to all of the trainers and fellow Fit Lifer’s who keep me on this wonderful journey!
NUTRITION I TRAINING
I went to my first group class at Fit Life in October of 2012. My better half, Sara, had gone to a couple of Tessa’s classes and finally talked me in to going. That first class seriously humbled me but I went back for more and we have both been hooked since.
In January 2013 we joined the Fit Life run group and began training for the Capital City 5 Miler. It didn’t take long for Tessa to “talk us in to” doing the Half-Marathon instead. In May we completed the Capital City Half-Marathon together.
It has been almost a year since my first class at Fit Life and in that time I have dropped 15 pounds, finished the half-marathon, and just this month, Sara and I conquered the Tough Mudder together along with 22 other members of our Fit Life family.
My proudest accomplishment over the last year was knocking 2 minutes off of my personal best at the Scott Firefighter Stairclimb in Seattle. In this event firefighters climb 69 flights of stairs (1,311 steps) in the Columbia Tower in full gear to raise funds and awareness for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and holds special meaning since losing my dad to Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in April of 2000.
We’ve been members of local fitness clubs in the past, but the thing that separates Fit Life from those large “Clubs” is the sense of community. From the trainers to our fellow Fit Lifer’s, everyone makes it easy to stay motivated and encouraged.
